June 26-July 27, 2016. My summer vacation in Greece. For today's Main Event Monday, a visual travelogue of various views via Athens, Porto Hydra, Crete, Skopelos and Euboea.

No, this isn't the view from my current room on Skopelos island in Greece, instead, this is the roar of the Atlantic Ocean from my balcony in Melbourne Beach in Florida last February. But, oh my, I felt like I was on the ocean, when I took the ferry from Skopelos to Skiathos island. Winds were so strong, they cancelled the smaller ferry later in the afternoon, so I had to scramble, pack and leave Skopelos five hours earlier than planned, hence the lateness of this week's Main Event Monday!
Holiday on Skopelos island in Greece. American friends, holiday=vacation! I enjoy learning about different words for the same thing in different countries! Just 3 days ago, a fellow blogger, Shona, from Shona Easton Design Studio, commented on my E is for Eggplant post, that the white aubergines looked like eggs, and maybe that's why the Americans call them eggplants! Whether you visit for a holiday (vacation), or a holiday (religious or national), Skopelos is the ideal host!
Alphabet. From the Greek alphabetos--A/alpha, and B/beta. And please, pronounce the beta as veeta, the Greek way, and not the sorority and fraternity way! For today's Main Event Monday, I'm thrilled to announce Travel with Mrs. T.'s Alphabet Challenge!
Sunsets. Sea kayaking. Motor sailing. Swimming. Snorkeling. Magical Milos has it all and more!
One for each check--268 exactly! That's how many blog posts I read and commented on while completing Sarah Arrow's 30 Day Blogging Challenge in August successfully! Now, you probably will NOT have the time to read as many posts as I did in a month, but the opportunity to discover so many diverse blogs is a bonus when it comes to the 30 Day Challenge. Today, I introduce you to 5 other bloggers who completed the challenge in 30 successive days at the same time as me!
I love the Jim Croce song Time in a Bottle. You know the one, "But there never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to...." Still don't recognize it? Well, I found a great compilation of the original and covers of Time in a Bottle on Second Hand Songs today.
Now that everyone is on the same page with the song, let's talk about how you can make the most of the time you have! Michele TravelwithMrsT has been to: Austria, Belgium, Bermuda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Serbia, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican.
Only 18 countries?!
I have a lot more traveling to do! Now, what else do you need to know about me!? Luxembourg City. Saturday afternoon. When we gave our name to the young man at reception in the Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal, he stated quizzically—“Greek!?”—after which we began a wonderful conversation about all things Greek, Luxembourgish, Belgian, and Dutch!
He was originally from Belgium, has been living near Vianden (where we had just visited—see my post from yesterday, Luxurious Travel in Luxembourg), and has visited both the Netherlands and Greece—Rhodes in particular. Just the mention of this island’s name flooded my mind with fond memories, since I have traveled to this wonderful Greek island three times so far! I love the Instagram account @ihavethisthingwithfloors. You may recall it was one of 20 Terrific Instagram Accounts According to Mrs. T. I've been inspired to look down more on trips to appreciate the intricacy and artistry of mosaic and marble floors, as well as the patterns of cobblestones on streets. But the most awe-inspiring, soothing places I know are Greek beaches, so to celebrate 6 months of blogging (as of yesterday), I decided to launch a new account on Instagram, and page on Facebook today--I Have This Thing With Greek Beaches!
