We do have a favorite beach in Athens, and visited on Monday, our first full day. After we paid our entrance fee, 4 euros per person, and started down the steps to Oceanis beach, this was our...

On Saturday, we left for Porto Hydra, along the coast on the Peloponnese. Along the way we stopped at various places. First, a view of Palaia Epidavros.
We continued driving, since our final destination was Porto Hydra, and we stayed at the Barcelo Hydra Beach Resort. That's my mother-in-law's...

On Wednesday, we flew to Chania, Crete, and stayed at Porto Kalyves Seaside Apartments. We had a view of the sea in the living room/kitchenette area, and one of the garden from the bedroom.

We were able to find a restaurant that evening that took American Express, since that was the only card I had brought with me. Luckily for us, my husband's cousin was meeting us on the island the next day, so we phoned him and asked to borrow some cash until we got back to Athens, and MY debit card!
Friday, we set off for Hora Sfakion, where we took a water taxi to Glyka Nera (Sweet Water) beach.
We continued along the coast to Fragokastello.
Saturday, our last day in Crete, we headed back to Chania Old Town to grab some souvenirs, and see the harbor during daylight.
We then headed back to the car, but not before we spotted some ivy and old doors decorating the walls of an outside cafe.
On Wednesday, I headed for Elios and this was my view for my early dinner before I went on a sunset kayak tour. Read all about this fabulous experience in K is for Kayak.
On Saturday, I headed to Kastani, a beach I hadn't visited during my vacation to Skopelos in June 2012.
Sunday was my last full day on Skopelos, and I enjoyed the afternoon on another small beach close to my hotel--no bus ride needed.
Then, back to Athens. Dinners with friends and family, at home and at favorite restaurants. My summer vacation was absolutely fabulous!
What's Your Dream Vacation? I described mine in that post, and this summer I added two more islands to my list. Every time I visit Greece, it's like a dream. If this beautiful country is not on your 'bucket' list, please add it!
