Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to bikes in the Netherlands. Many are bespoke* to fit the whole family, like this modified tandem bike in the seaside resort, Scheveningen. I’ve been following the Facebook page, Le Tour Utrecht, for quite some time now, and just yesterday, they featured a video called BIKE! The amazing world of cyclists in Utrecht! This great video is the 1st of my 10 favorite videos featuring cycling in the Netherlands for today's Tech Tidbits Tuesday!

Yesterday morning, some time after the 5:30 a.m. sunrise, I heard noises outside our bedroom window. I jumped out of bed, put on my glasses, and grabbed my iPhone. Pulled aside the heavy curtain and saw the cyclists. I looked at the clock on my phone, 7:30 a.m.--these cyclists were tackling either the 110 or 150 km distances of the Toerversie Utrecht! I had wanted to sign up to do the shortest distance, 35 km, for fun, but waited too long to register. This was actually more fun, since I got to see what Stage 2 of the Tour de France (TDF) next Sunday, July 5th would look like from the windows of my home!
A soothing sunset from one of my favorite places in Greece for today's Spiritual Sunday. Martha's place! That's not the official name, but instead the way we referred to the house right on the water in Theotokos on Euboea that Martha, my mother-in-law's sister, and her husband Kostas built with love and sweat! I enjoy taking photos of places, sunsets, details, but I am also known in the family as the organizer of posed group photos. These images are priceless, especially when they include family members who are no longer with us.
Santorini. All you have to do is say the name of this beautiful island in Greece, and most people state that it's on their bucket list (or they've been there already and want to go back!) For today's Celebration Saturday, I give you two reasons to celebrate in Santorini (plus one surprise!)
Every trip to Greece, a trip to Thanasis. The restaurant opened in 1964. Unfortunately, I did not have the pleasure of eating there until 1986, when I moved to Greece with my husband. Within a few weeks of settling in, we went to Thanasis and got a take-away kebab. Oh my goodness! I can still remember how fabulous it tasted; it's the reason I keep returning, year after year!
Onthaalkerk Onze-Lieve-Vrouw in Bruges, Belgium as viewed from the Belfort. This was my third visit to Bruges, but my first visit up the 366 steps of the Bell Tower. Though I was a little winded by the time I got to the top, I took a deep breath and enjoyed the breathtaking(!) view! My husband and I first visited Bruges with his mother in October 2014. I returned when my three friends from Florida visited in April 2015. Just this weekend, nine of us enjoyed a wonderful weekend in Bruges to celebrate my husband's birthday and Father's Day. I will keep going back again and again to this cozy, inviting town that makes me smile.
1995. We moved to Florida. Universal Studios Orlando had just one theme park. 1999. Islands of Adventure (IOA) opened. Jurassic Park was one of our favorite areas, and today for my Throwback Thursday, I just had to post this pic from IOA, since we went to see Jurassic World 3-D this evening at a theater in Utrecht in the Netherlands.
Islands. Blue seas. My dream vacation. Flashback. 2009. For today's Where Oh Where Wednesday, the location isn't Greece--it's somewhere in the USA! Can you guess in less than 7 pictures? Something a little different today--I'm going to give you the answer in Image #7. So don't scroll to that one until you've made your official hypothesis! (That's Image #1 above--any ideas yet?)
Google's My Maps. A month ago, my Tech Tidbits Tuesday post was My Custom Travel Map for Rome. My hubby and I were going to Rome, one of my dream vacation spots, for our 30th wedding anniversary, and I was creating a map. I used it thoughout our trip, and since I've returned, modified it by adding layers for each separate day. I'm pretty happy with my first map.
