Much more intricate is the window (below), representing the Nativity, in Bruges/Brugge at St. Salvatorskathedraal. | Even the hotel room where we stayed in Miltenberg, the Haus zum Riesen, had this beautiful sculpture of Mary (left) on the wall. During our trip to Germany, we traveled to Heppdiel, the small town where my Oma was born. The church there had a beautiful stained glass window of Mary (below). |
Every morning, upon entering school, this is the statue that greeted me. Every morning, no matter how rushed or stressed I was feeling, seeing Mary immediately soothed me. Greek Orthodox also honor Mary, but have not set aside an honorary month. Regardless of your religious beliefs, each and every one of us hopes for protection and guidance in times of need. For Christians, Mary is there for us. |
