I bought my first scrapbook in 2001, when I went with a friend to a scrapbooking afternoon at her friend's house. It's the one you saw in the opening photo!
At that time, my children were in middle school, and all of the other women at the scrapbooking 'party' had babies and toddlers! They were complaining jokingly about never getting caught up! I just snickered to myself!
I knew I wouldn't be able to document my children's lives from birth, I'd NEVER get caught up, but I could start with our travels. After all, we'd already lived in Athens, Greece and Baltimore, Maryland, and were now living in Orlando, Florida.
At the scrapbook 'party', I actually worked on pages for a trip that my son, daughter and I had taken to Tampa recently. You see, the party's host had told all newcomers to scrapbooking to bring up to 10 photos related to a specific event to work with that afternoon.
I know I'm not going to get caught up, but I promised my daughter that I would complete her book by her wedding, and she's now engaged, so the clock is ticking! It was my daughter who first introduced me to Facebook in 2010, and the ability to share photos with others without bringing them to my home! She also introduced me to Instagram. I told you all about Instagram in my post this Tuesday, Instagram and Related Apps: My Honest Opinion. Bottom line--I love Instagram!
I'm actually more organized than ever with my digital photos. After each trip, I download them to my computer, but still keep them on my 32G SD card, until I back up my computer to my external hard drive once a month.
I have separate folders on my laptop for each place, as well as separate folders for each week of my blog, and then subfolders for each day. My posts tend to have lots of images, so this is the only way I can stay sane! Having my blog has forced me to get more organized with my photos, and I love that I can share my photos with even more people now!
So, I have two major goals concerning catching up with my scrapbooking:
1) Finish my daughter's scrapbook within 12 months!
2) Continue blogging and sharing photos online with all of you!
I'm going to stay optimistic! Right now, I'm on Day 6 of the 30-Day Blogging Challenge, and have 24 more successive days to go--so lots more photos! Keep following for more!
How do you share your photos with others?
