Time for another Feast On It Friday! Perfect--we just got back from Restaurant Blauw in the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands, and my taste buds and stomach are still ecstatic about the meal I just had. When my husband made reservations on Tuesday for four of us, he had two choices for time--6:45 p.m. or 9 p.m. For most Dutch people, 9 p.m. would be too late, but we were taking my husband's cousin and his wife out to dinner, and they're all Greek--9 p.m. is early for Greeks! So, guess which time my hubby picked!? (That's him outside the restaurant where we arrived about 5 minutes early!) |

I still trust TripAdvisor! An article has been floating around Facebook about a fake restaurant, but the three restaurants in Amsterdam I chose to write reviews about today are all real--I promise!
Feast On It Friday! All week long I've been wondering what food or wine I would feature in keeping with this week's theme of cycling. When I ventured to the Domtoren to hear a Carillon Concert today, I never imagined that I would stumble upon this cute kiosk...with wine!
Every trip to Greece, a trip to Thanasis. The restaurant opened in 1964. Unfortunately, I did not have the pleasure of eating there until 1986, when I moved to Greece with my husband. Within a few weeks of settling in, we went to Thanasis and got a take-away kebab. Oh my goodness! I can still remember how fabulous it tasted; it's the reason I keep returning, year after year!
The Green and Blue Island. That’s what the Biopolitics International Organisation (B.I.O.) named Skopelos in 1997. When I was scouring the internet in 2012, looking for a peaceful island to spend a week alone, I stumbled across this hidden gem in Greece. Since Skopelos has no airport, I flew first to nearby Skiathos island from Athens, and then took a ferry to Loutraki/Glossa, the quieter of the two ports on Skopelos. I didn't take or rent a car, so I explored the island by bus!
I fibbed! Months ago I told you that my Feast On It Fridays were going to focus on food, wine or chocolate. But I visited the Keukenhof in Lisse, Netherlands last week with my three friends who were visiting from the States, and the unending rows of beautiful flowers, and the soothing aroma everywhere I walked were a feast for my eyes and nose! Therefore, I present to you Keukenhof, in my opinion, the most beautiful garden in the world!
I wasn't excited about the private wine tasting at Domaine Chandon in Yountville, California. In years past on New Year's Eve, I'd sip a bit of whatever bubbly we had, or people brought to our parties, and then go back to my usual red wine. But when the young man poured out our first set of wines after our tour of the winery, that one in the middle surprised me--it was pink!
When I visited Orlando for a month in March, one of the first places my son wanted us to go was the Winter Park Farmers' Market. I love open air markets, especially on a beautiful sunny day; I couldn't have ordered a more perfect Saturday morning! Here are 5 reasons why you should meet at the Winter Park Farmers' Market whether you live in Orlando or are just passing through!
We were all hungry. Breakfast (does coffee count?) was long ago, and we were passing lots of quick service kiosks, and inhaling all of the hunger-inducing aromas. I had been to Yak & Yeti's once before, when my husband and I had dinner there the year we splurged and bought an Annual Pass to Disney World. I offered my suggestion. My daughter and her boyfriend agreed. Only a 25-minute wait...we can handle that. Our name was called before the 25-minutes was up, and we were escorted to the second floor to a table with a view. I have to say, without a doubt, everything that we ordered at Yak & Yeti inside Disney's Animal Kingdom was yummy.
I love food, wine, and chocolate, so Feast On It Fridays are going to focus on one or more of those things! Today is the premiere, so a little background first. Each FOIF (Feast On It Friday) will feature a review of one of the following: 1) a restaurant, 2) a recipe, 3) a farmer's market, 4) a winery or vineyard, 5) a wine bar, 6) a specific wine, or 7) a specific chocolate. The image (left) is from the laiki (farmer's market in Greek) in Palaio Faliro, Greece. Though today's first FOIF is not about the laiki, I just couldn't resist posting this photo with its rainbow of brilliant colors to entice you to the first Feast On It Friday post! Today, I'm going to review one of my all-time favorite restaurants, Eddie V's. |
