At first glance, you might think this is the 4th of July in the U.S. Families gathering for a parade, and possibly fireworks. But wait, that sign is white with red polka dots, the jersey colors for the King of the Mountain that I told you about on Monday in Le Tour de France 2015: Getting Ready in Utrecht, and Roy is a cyclist from Roggel in the Netherlands, who is on the Giant Alpecin team! Today, though, I spent the 4th cheering on Trek Factory Racing in the 1st Stage of the Tour.
Feast On It Friday! All week long I've been wondering what food or wine I would feature in keeping with this week's theme of cycling. When I ventured to the Domtoren to hear a Carillon Concert today, I never imagined that I would stumble upon this cute kiosk...with wine!
I LOVE GREECE! My daughter and I are discussing wedding ideas daily, though we haven't talked about wedding vows yet (you may recall I told you about her engagement in 2 Reasons to Celebrate in Santorini + 1 Surprise). But when I started planning today's Throwback Thursday for this week's cycling theme, I thought about one of the BEST times I had in Greece--attending the 2004 Olympics. When I found this photo of my husband at the barricade in front of the Parliament building in Syntagma, I immediately thought about how Greece is currently in one of its WORST periods. So, I decided today was going to be all about why I love and cherish Greece!
I went on a scavenger hunt today, looking for signs of the upcoming Grand Depart of the Tour de France in Utrecht. Guess we know who these citizens are rooting for--Wilco Kelderman, one of the LottoNL-Jumbo riders! Enough about Utrecht, signs of cycling are all over Europe. The next 19 photos are from 6 different countries. See if you can match up the photos to their countries for today's Where Oh Where Wednesday. I'll give you a big hint; here's the total number of pics for each country: a) Belgium--3, b) Germany--5, c) Greece--2, d) Italy--2, e) The Netherlands--5, and f) The United Kingdom--2. Can you match more than 10 correctly? Let's get started.
