I love this city, even though I've only visited once, a few weeks ago, when my husband's cousin and his wife visited us from Greece. We took the train there from Utrecht, and spent a wonderful early afternoon there. We bumped into this fun blue heart right in the middle of a large pedestrian walkway. Do you have any guesses yet? Remember, the first few photos are always tougher than successive ones. I have a slight twist for you with the last few images, but see if you can make a guess before you get that far! Let's get started! |
Saw lots of variations on Vermeer's, Girl with a Pearl Earring. Above, made from empty single-serving coffee containers, and right, beautiful mosaic tiles. The Vermeer Center (below) is located in this city. Any guesses now? |
Delft is well-known for its pottery, but unfortunately we did not visit Royal Delft. Next visit!
Now, you can add Delft to your list of 8 Places to Play for a Day in the Netherlands. By the way, here is the original, Girl with a Pearl Earring by Vermeer. I had the pleasure of admiring it when I visited the Mauritshuis in Den Haag (The Hague) in February. Have you ever visited Delft? If yes, what was your favorite part? If no, did this tempt you to visit? Let me know in a comment below! |
