I had my own favorite photo opportunities at every park and area of Disney World. After we moved to Orlando, we would always recommend to friends and family visiting, to spend an afternoon or early evening at Downtown Disney, a huge area great for walking, with shops, restaurants, movie theaters, and now, even a bowling alley! I always loved getting photos in front of Mickey. But since this one of my mother-in-law and my kids (right), looked like she was getting wet, I shot from a different angle when my aunt and uncle visited (below)! | I'm not sure if the fountain is still there. They were doing such major renovations to parking at Downtown Disney when I just visited in 2015, that I didn't stop by. Next time for sure! |
Disney is renaming Cinderella's Castle as Elsa's Castle! Gotcha! This was a great April Fools' Day prank played by Disney World yesterday. I checked it out on Snopes just to make sure! I couldn't believe it when I first read the headline; after all, the Castle is the iconic symbol of the Magic Kingdom. The pic of it above is from my first trip to the Magic Kingdom in 1982, when it was the only Orlando Disney park. My friend and I drove to Orlando from Baltimore. We spent two long, exciting days at the park, and experienced just about every attraction. Come join me today as I travel back in time to Disney World! My daughter and son enjoyed their first visit to the parks in 1995, and visited both Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Of course, no visit is complete without a tasty treat; ice cream is still a favorite at all the parks! (We were visiting from Baltimore; we enjoyed wearing our shorts and eating ice cream in March!) Sunset photos are fun too, like this one (above right) with my mother and my kids. Too bad the crane is in the way. I can't remember what they might have been adding or renovating at the time. I always wanted to get a photo of everyone with the Castle (as you can probably tell by now)! One of my favorite times to visit Epcot is during the Flower and Garden Festival--above in1997; below in 2015. The topiaries are exquisite; one of my favorites--Belle and the Beast! Some things do change at the parks, and no foolin', Studio Backlot Tour is no longer open. It closed in September 2014, but the pic below is of my husband enjoying the special effects on our first visit to the Studios in 1995. We moved to Orlando in December and decided to go the Studios on New Year's Eve to celebrate; Huey Lewis and the News performed that night at the park--Happy New Year! I had such a good time this afternoon perusing all my carefully labelled (thank goodness) photo albums, to find pictures for today's Throwback Thursday. What an enjoyable activity! It's great fun when you laugh at old hairstyles or fashions, and for me, my glasses! Thank you for joining me in my travel back in time to Disney World! Now, go grab an old photo album and smile!

What a lovely post. I've had the pleasure of visiting Disney World 3 times over the years and we've alway had a lovely time. First time was in '98. Hopefully we'll be back again before too long.

Thanks Wendy! I worked at the Disney World parks when I first moved to Orlando, and it was one of my favorite places to work as well as visit!
