Back to School. Last week's TBT, but since some students are having their first days this week, a little carry-over! These are my children in 1994 and '95 on their first days of school. This week's Throwback Thursday is all about re-enacting the past when re-visiting a place! Let's see what happens when my daughter re-visits her school in 2010! |
In my post, Happy in Heppdiel--Document Your Family's Memories, I talked about how important it is to not just save photos, but also stories--written or typed text, or audio or video recordings.
A few months ago, I saw a post on Facebook about a wonderful project that a man had started in 2012. Here is the link for the Facebook page--Past Present Project. Also, here's the link for the Website--Past Present Project. Christian Carollo takes his grandfather's photos and grandmother's descriptions in travel journals and re-enacts the photos during his travels.
Just this month, Suzy Strutner of The Huffington Post wrote about Christian: This Guy Re-Creates Grandpa's Old Travel Photos, Internet Sobs.
I'm getting ready for a month-long trip to Greece, and will be re-visiting some spots with friends for whom this will be their first visit. I plan to take some of my old photos, and re-enact them with my friends. Much like my children did when they had a photo taken in 2011 on the same steps in Andros where I took a photo during our first trip to the island in 2003!
The first photo I found recently that I want to re-enact is from 1987 at Zappeio in Athens.
The next photo is from Meteora, during my second visit there in 2004.
So, I'm all packed (well, not yet--I don't leave for another week) and ready to re-enact (with a little help from my friends!)
Have you ever tried to re-enact a photo?
