Cheery yellow daffodils--"a happy signal of the arrival of spring," according to Head of Gardens, Mike Calnan, as quoted on the National Trust website.
I'd been seeing daffodils along roads and bike paths in the Netherlands for about 2 weeks, and when we visited Dusseldorf last Sunday, these were smiling brightly along Am Handelshafen.

As we drove away from Dusseldorf, I observed through the car window, so many people sitting on the lawn, or walking along the many paths--a definite sign of a sunny spring day! On the other side of the Rhein, children were flying kites (below).
Seeing the yellow and the children having fun, reminded me of a special event, today in Orlando, Florida. I'm separated by an ocean now, due to my new home in the Netherlands, but I am at the Block Party for Cannonball Kids' cancer (CKc) in spirit today. Check out the CKc website or CKc Facebook page for more information and updates about a wonderful family's efforts to "spread awareness regarding how underfunded and under-researched pediatric cancer is," not just in the U.S., but worldwide--Cannon's mother Melissa is a native of Scotland.
My call to action today is a special one. Consider hosting a Cannonball Kids' cancer (CKc) Card Club event. It's easy and fun, and $4 of every $5 collected goes directly towards research, according to the website. As the website explains, "The 50,000 kids in hospitals in the United States today want hope, inspiration, to feel loved and special and that's exactly what you are giving them."

So find a bench among some flowers on this beautiful sunny day (it is here in Utrecht, hopefully it is for you too wherever you may be living or traveling!) Make plans to provide some sunshine and hope to others. (If you're in Orlando, go to CKc's Block Party today from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Ivanhoe Road!)
Spring into action today!
