A park bench or a sunset. I promised you a photo of one or the other in each of my Spiritual Sundays back when I posted the first one, Peace..., on January 11, 2015. I've decided to give you two benches AND three sunsets today in reflecting upon my month-long vacation in Greece.
My husband and I flew to Athens on Friday, August 28th, spent an hour at my mother-in-law's house and then drove to Rafina, a port town where you can catch ferries to various islands. We sat for about 15 minutes on that bench while waiting for our ferry to arrive. I told my husband that I wished it faced the opposite direction, since the view of the sea is just breathtaking.
Next time you're sitting or standing somewhere and waiting (could be in traffic, at the DMV, or at a grocery store), take a deep breath and list three things you're grateful for that day. Could be the beautiful sunshine, or rain, if you live in a drought affected region.
Awe-inspiring sunsets are events that I am grateful for each and every day, and during my month-long vacation in Greece, I was treated to some absolutely gorgeous ones.

Our second weekend in Greece, my husband and I, and two of our friends, drove along the beach road to Sounio (above). We weren't alone--we're not the only ones who love sunsets!
In my post All Packed to Re-enact, I told you how I was determined to see a beautiful sunset in Meteora. Our third weekend in Greece, we weren't alone in our quest! I love watching sunsets, but I also love watching other people who are enjoying sunsets! Makes me happy!
I was a complete tourist on the fourth weekend. Both my husband and our friends had flown to Utrecht to get back to their jobs. I decided to revisit many of the touristy spots in Athens, since it was a gorgeous day, and there was rain forecast for much of the following week.
I actually stumbled across a part of the Acropolis that I had never been to, and found this wonderful bench overlooking part of Athens. Though it looked tempting (since it was in the shade) I continued my trek up to the Parthenon (more on that in another post soon!)

Just yesterday, part of my final weekend in Greece, I strolled along the beach road in Palaio Faliro until I reached Alimos Marina. In our three trips to Athens this year, we had visited the newer Floisvos Marina, but not Alimos. I loved the contrast between the fishing and recreation boats.
I think sunsets should be on your happiness or grateful list every day. They're on mine! By the way, I'm participating in the #100happydays challenge again!
When was the last time you took 10 minutes or more and watched a sunset?
Let me know in a comment below!
