Not brunch, but 'linner'! You know, the combination of lunch and dinner! Since O Kossis doesn't open until 4 p.m., having linner there before leaving for Athens on the 8 o'clock ferry was perfect. When we visited my husband's cousin on Andros island in Greece last weekend, we mentioned a few restaurants that we had visited before. But, he recommended O Kossis Taverna, and my husband, mother-in-law, and I were so glad we ate there for the first time last Sunday. From our first view of the restaurant in its unique position on the mountain, to this view above from the parking lot, we were delighted. At worst, at least we would have an enjoyable view! Though there were ample tables to choose from at 4 p.m. when it opened, my husband's cousin indicated that it fills up quickly as people finish their sunbathing for the day, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings (which he stated are the only days the taverna is open in the winter). We ventured further inside the taverna, since we had already spent our time in the sun at Felos beach earlier in the day. We finally ended up at the back of the restaurant, at a table in the shade with this peaceful view below. The meal started with complimentary tsiporo, a drink with 36-45% alcohol, made from the last wine press. Made only in Greece, the drink is definitely something I suggest you try once! Though I enjoyed tsiporo more than the more well-known Greek ouzo, I still prefer my wine! But, now to why O Kossis is a meat lover's dream! From a specialty for two made with goat (for my husband's cousin and his wife) to a huge beef steak (for my mother-in-law), to lamb chops (that both my hubby and I ordered), everything was cooked to perfection, and we cleaned our plates! Hope you enjoyed today's Feast On It Friday. Please consider sharing the post with your friends who may be comtemplating some island hopping in Greece in the future!
