"What's the password?" I was so excited about visiting my Oma's town in Germany, and staying at the hotel where she worked before moving to the United States, that we forgot to ask if the hotel had wifi! We tried to connect around midnight on Friday, after we settled in for the night after a 5 hour drive. No luck. No problem, we'll inquire at breakfast on Saturday. But what happens when you end up being unplugged for the entire weekend?

When I visited Orlando for a month in March, one of the first places my son wanted us to go was the Winter Park Farmers' Market. I love open air markets, especially on a beautiful sunny day; I couldn't have ordered a more perfect Saturday morning! Here are 5 reasons why you should meet at the Winter Park Farmers' Market whether you live in Orlando or are just passing through!
A picture might be worth more than a thousand words, but an in-person view...priceless! You get the aroma of the sea, the warm touch of the sun and September breeze, and the sound of the gentle waves coming ashore. This was the view from our room at the AKS Hinitsa Bay Resort in Porto Cheli, Greece. When you're deciding where to stay, how important is a room with a view?
Everyone loves a good game! Games are fun, especially when they're challenging. Many games include repeated failure, but we play them again and again--trying to win, advance to the next level, or help our team! These are just a few of the games I brought to the Netherlands, when I moved here last year. Today's Where Oh Where Wednesday game has two parts; first, a few pictures where you try to guess where we're playing, and second, a few pictures where you try to guess which game!
Can you picture yourself swimming in this little cove? That's me enjoying a quick dip in the water before getting back in my kayak and continuing on one of the most awesome experiences in my life--a kayaking tour with Neil McAra of Kayaking Greece (photo credit: N. McAra)! Efharisto, Neil! If you ever visit Skopelos in Greece, you MUST go on a kayaking adventure with Neil and his team! I've been blogging for three months now, and want to know, what other free travel advice do you need?
This was my view today when I came downstairs to our living room and went out on the balcony. Absolutely breathtaking blue skies with fluffy white clouds that looked like cotton candy! I just wanted to reach out and grab one. Oh, did I mention it's my birthday, in addition to being my "1st Easter" (see yesterday's post Torn Between Two Easters to see why my husband's cousin called it this when she wished me a Happy Birthday on Facebook this morning!) My husband and I decided to seize the day, and went for a 10-mile bike ride! Little things fill me with happiness--54 years worth!
Western Christians celebrate Easter tomorrow, Sunday, April 5, but Eastern Christians celebrate next Sunday, April 12. Raised on Western traditions, I converted to Greek Orthodoxy when I married my husband 30 years ago. Every year, I find myself torn between the two Easters. My first Easter, April 2, 1961--my mother (very pregnant with me), with my father and his sister!
We were all hungry. Breakfast (does coffee count?) was long ago, and we were passing lots of quick service kiosks, and inhaling all of the hunger-inducing aromas. I had been to Yak & Yeti's once before, when my husband and I had dinner there the year we splurged and bought an Annual Pass to Disney World. I offered my suggestion. My daughter and her boyfriend agreed. Only a 25-minute wait...we can handle that. Our name was called before the 25-minutes was up, and we were escorted to the second floor to a table with a view. I have to say, without a doubt, everything that we ordered at Yak & Yeti inside Disney's Animal Kingdom was yummy.
